I love it when I am able to feel the oceanic depths of my being as waves of effervescent joy roll through my soul, filling me with with such indescribable ecstasy, that nothing else matters. During these times, the world just fades away into nonexistence, and I get a small tantalizing hint of why we may be here, walking around on this lovely little globule of rocky dust encircled by blue, lapping waters that we call the earth, and that we decided to call our home for a brief time. This feeling is not really a feeling, but more of an inner conviction that we are forever connected to something so inconceivably vast, all that matters is the maintaining and deepening of this connection. I believe that there is no limit to how far I can descend into its magnificent depths; that the further I go, the more there will be to explore and experience.

During these times, I am surrounded and engulfed by a limitless presence, so all-encompassing and incredibly ancient, it boggles the mind. Which is a good thing. We need our minds completely and utterly boggled, discombobulated into stunned bewilderment and turned so topsy-turvy, that they stop headlong in their tracks, and are able to recede way into the background of our consciousness. Our minds have a tendency to dim the infinite splendor that is unadorned reality, fogging up the mirror of our perceptions so that we mistake the external world for what is, and thereby diminishing all of the unmitigated joy we should be having. In our desire to make sense of things, to even have a tenuous grasp onto something reassuringly solid in a capricious universe, we limit our understanding to a mere fraction of what it could be. The way we see things could be infinite. Instead, we exchange our Ultra HD 4K television, for a fifty year old black and white, rabbit-eared piece of junk, that can barely pick up two channels. We need to be constantly wiping away the dirt and the grime and accumulated gunk from our perceptual mirrors through actively seeking out incredibly rich experiences, and ideas; through surrendering to strange beguiling epiphanies, and embarking on delirious dream flights to mysterious temples where we can receive the holiest of forbidden wisdom. We need to do all these things, and more, so that our minds will be thrown for a loop, and therefore, allow us to be in the right place to taste the ethereal joys that are ever our birthright.

So, you must get rid of your soul-sapping complacency by indulging that part of your soul that craves the unfamiliar, and bravely tread the forgotten cobblestones of an uncertain path. The kind of path that will take you places that exist altogether apart from the human mind. Some of these places can be found on a map; sacred oases out in nature where we can retreat from the mind-numbing din of civilization, and immerse ourselves fully into the rapturous silence to be partaken of there. There are other, inexpressibly transcendent locales, that dwell in our spiritual imagination, and unable to be traveled to by using conventional modes of transportation. We are only given permission to traverse these expanses when we relinquish our tight grasp on a version of reality that is pathetically small. Places we can retreat to in the sanctity of our dreams, where we can replenish our tired spirits by imbibing the exquisitely piquant wines and succulent fruits gifted to us by the vibrant beings who live there.

They may appear to us as benevolent demons, phantasmagorical demi-gods, or even the old man down the street, who is seemingly conventional in appearance, yet you know he harbors incredible reserves of wisdom that he earned through many hard-fought metaphysical battles. It doesn’t really matter. What matters is what we learn in these hallowed places where bright inspiration wafts through the air, like an intoxicating breeze, of ways to transcend the monopoly that thought has placed on our awareness. The mind is like a petulant god, who will let no others intrude upon its sacred space. It has carved out a seemingly impenetrable fortress in your psyche, and now wants to become an evil beast who will frighten away the delicate flower of your higher awareness. We must not give into this tyrant. Therefore, it is absolutely imperative that you allow that which lies beyond thought to triumphantly emerge, and ascend to the main stage of your life; let it become the primary focus of your existence, and revere that exceedingly sacred part of you.

We think way, way too much. Our thoughts utterly consume us; wear us out with their exhausting energy and their endless demands. These insidious emissaries from the realm of the intellect attempt to dislodge us from our spiritual quest in every way they can think of. The mind is a motor that is constantly running, and unless you know where to look, it is so very difficult to locate the “off” switch. But we must find that switch, and give our monkey brains, chattering away all day and all night and causing us to be more than a little insane, a bit of a rest. Our civilization has exalted the mind for far too long as the mental filter through which all of reality must be experienced and digested. However, in order to progress as a species, we must dethrone the intellect from its overly exalted position, and realize that it is merely a tool. An exquisite, eminently handy tool, one which we used to build great civilizations and wonders beyond imagining, but a tool nonetheless.

Gaia Unbound

Consciousness, Poetry, Spirituality, Uncategorized

Angelic orbs of beatific significance
Undulate in a slow circular dance
Pulse outwards from elysian realms,
Mystical energies to envelope
The earth
In a fiery embrace,
Womblike in their effects
Healing Gaia, who has been
By those supremely indifferent
To her holy majesty
With tender ministrations,
The crimson-tinged waves of sacred love
Radiate with great power from beyond forests
Of primeval sanctity
Distant in both space and time
Trees of infinite splendor, that flourish in verdant extravagance
Their viridian spires ascending heavenward,
Springing up in otherwordly realms from whence
Fluttering epiphanies take flight
With ectstatic fanfare
The stupefying arrival of supernal energies
Joy incomparable
Transforms all beings with its energetic gambol
A grateful world
Afflicted with an insatiable thirst
For that which is transcendent in nature
Thirstily imbibes the divine elixir
Peace is the sublime
And agape is the ethereal gift
That is ours if we are ready to accept it
And in the end,
Beyond the ineffable sadnesses
And bitter truths of existence
A great announcement wafts downwards from heavenly expanses
Oneness has enveloped
The world, and
The body forged from a billion hurting souls
Mutilated by scintillant daggers of unholy darkness
Dripping with ancient blood
(The legacy of suffering we have bequeathed to ourselves)
Has been saved from itself,
Once again.

Our Journey Towards Love

Consciousness, Spirituality, Uncategorized

We are on a wondrous evolutionary journey, progressing always upwards towards the all-encompassing light, to utterly shed all vestiges of that flimsy construct that we call our “personality.” We act like lowly snakes, slithering in the dry dust, who have swallowed the sun and do not even realize it. Deep within our bellies, we have this luminous ball of eternity, and as long as we refuse to shed the strangulating skin of our egos, the light within cannot escape out into the world to work its miraculous magic. We need to eventually relinquish this sometimes useful, but more often than not, limiting, thing. It hides our inner glow, and we are unable to ascend into the unimaginable glory of who we really are.

All of us masquerading as human beings believe that this construct gives us power, and that were we to merge into the ocean of consciousness, we would be forever lost. Nothing could be further from the truth. At the moment of union with universal love, we will finally awaken after our long slumber, and become the divine beings every one of us were meant to be. We are destined to transcend the multifarious universes that encompass the totality of space/time to become unified once more with our Creator, who is merely us restored to our fullness. We will waltz with angelic beings, even if our world, due to our collective ignorance, is destroyed. We can always create new ones out of the cloth of nothingness by manifesting them with our powerful creative energies.

Always, we will have new adventures, and create new realities from an infinitude of possibilities. Humanity will suddenly realize that there are new ways of being that we can scarcely imagine now. And, all souls are good, despite what you may have heard to the contrary. In the end, not a single one will be lost to eternal damnation during this epic journey. Some may temporarily turn away from the light, but an evolutionary process, once started, can never be stopped. Only remember that we prevent our movement into the all-consuming light of beingness because of our overly hasty desire to label others. This is because of our underlying fear that in their differences from us, they threaten us somehow. This misconception only serves to sap our spiritual strength. The other is our self, if only we could dimly recognize this.

You Are Never Alone

Consciousness, Homelessness, Spirituality

“Alone” would be the most awful word in the English language, to those who even consider it a possibility to be alone. However, if you had even the faintest glimmer of awareness as the ultimate truth of existence, you would realize how utterly impossible it is to be what we call “alone.” This is the trickery of the ego, the part of us that holds an entrenched belief in separateness. If you really knew the inner workings of things, you would entirely eradicate the word “alone” from your vocabulary. You are an integral part of the jaw-dropping immensity of things. You should remind yourself of this fact on a daily basis. You are one with the stars, the planets, the very galaxy itself. Your kindred soul is the dewy blade grass at your feet, as well as the individual you saw yesterday picking through the trash and wearing tattered clothing, who just happens to be homeless.

The universe is your body writ large. How could you even be alone for a nanosecond if you truly understood this? Because, as so many wise mystics have intuited throughout the untold centuries, we are all part of the one consciousness. And, this is a knowing that transcends religious belief. If you really dive deep enough into the infinite oceanic depths that comprise your being, suffering and the horrific dysfunction that is over-identification with form will all fade away into nothingness. You will see yourself as part of the oneness of things, with all that entails. So, you should go deep within and know how utterly impossible it is to be alone. If you were truly alone, you would have to utterly reject the transcendent dimension that you are an inextricable part of.

At this dimension, you cease to exist as a separate person, and that is the most empowering feeling you will ever encounter in this lifetime. We get glimpses of this interconnected during meditation. If we truly knew this, we would no longer need to incarnate on the physical plane. We could utterly dispense with these physical encumbrances we call bodies. Whenever you are tempted to feel alone, bring forth a remembrance of your oneness with the totality by meditating, walking out in nature, or by engaging in selfless service to others. Finding a way to feel connected to universal love is the way to vanquish loneliness. If you forget who you really are at the deepest level of reality, you will cut yourself from the love that not only pervades the universe, but who you are stripped of the trappings of ego. And, you will cut yourself off from joy, because this transcendent dimension is the origin of all earthly joy. All this takes is the slightest leap of faith – the ability to take one breath, and then another…and then one more, in a state of complete and utter mindfulness, and a willingness to let all thoughts slip away. It is a devotion to the simplicity of this routine that will ultimately liberate you.

To See Is to Create

Consciousness, Spirituality

Our observational ability is far from a passive act, for is essentially the very act of creation itself, and there is nothing more powerful than this. This ability is the most creative act imaginable. It is absolutely awe-inspiring that the powers that be love us so much, that they have given us the chance to use our divine abilities to birth new worlds into glorious existence. If enough of us focus on something, it will come to be. This is cosmic law, and as we evolve as a species, we will get increasingly better at this. Every sentient being that walks on the earth is like a cosmic superhero, and is capable of amazingly miraculous things. We can bring an infinitude of realities or interdimensional possibilities into being through the act of seeing which alters the very structure of space/time, in almost unimaginable ways, because you create change at the most fundamental subatomic level.

And, you have been lovingly been given the gift of this immense power by God. Also, remember that the very universe itself was lovingly brought into being through a perceptual act. You can create whatever you want through this divine ability, but know that it is not you doing the creating, but the transcendent realm flowing through you by your freely allowing it to do so. This power is benevolent beyond comprehension, and wants to create good things for you and all others who share the planet with you. You can channel this energy and focus your spiritual perception on what you want to help it bring forth into manifestation. Be the eyes for the universe, and then through you, it gets an opportunity to know itself. The universe then becomes you. It is a creative symbiosis of the most wondrous kind that emanates from a place that transcends the physical plane, and this place is ultimately incomprehensible through the intellect. We are all perceptually creating this mind-boggling immense tapestry we call “reality”, and this tapestry is woven from the multitudinous threads which are the collective sum of our unique observations.

Our perceptual mechanism is so inherently powerful; observations made locally can affect everything that exists, even on a macrocosmic level. This goes beyond the well-known “butterfly effect”, for, it is not only possible for the most minuscule of actions to shake the very foundation of creation, but our collective observations of the universe will exponentially accumulate, ending in the prevailing paradigm being toppled, if that what our intention is. And, as we all know, the entire universe was made manifest when the Self observed Itself. We are on an upwards trajectory that cannot be stopped. We are destined to ceaselessly create better conditions for ourselves and all other life forms, and there is no end in sight as to what we can do with our astonishing powers. So, be mindful of what you put your attention on, and use your godlike gift of perception to bring forth from the ineffable dimension glorious new possibilities. We are all metaphysical artists collaborating on the most magnificent art project imaginable, and our canvas is the entirety of space/time, and all the realms of existence that lie hidden within it.

Mind Your Own Business

Consciousness, Human Behavior, Spirituality

There’s a great level of peace that comes with minding your own business. This is because folks who go within, and do not seek to meddle in the affairs of others, nor seek control over others, have minds wholly undisturbed by the turbulent ripples that are an invariable result of the strenuous mental effort that it takes to make sure that everyone walks the same self-righteous path as yourself. The tendency to do this, unfortunately, is a byproduct of being a slave to religious dogma, and it is something that is not good for you or anybody else who has chosen to incarnate on this physical plane. Religion has no business dictating how others should live. If you want a truly authentic spiritual experience, walk out in silent reverie into the great cathedrals of nature, such as our majestic forests, or our tumultuous waterfalls with their deafening roar, or our precipitous cliffs that ascend heavenward.  Did you ever see a bird or a tree that was presumptuous enough and so full of its own self-importance, as to issue dictates on how we should live? There is not a single moral imperative to be found on the sands of the seashore, nor any self-righteous pronouncements emanating from the diminutive mouths of the avian splendor that is the cardinal. This is why religious dogma, with its stultifying dictates that utterly kills all vestiges of spiritual ecstasy, is now being seen as an enormous obstacle towards spiritual transcendence.

The empty shell that is the artifice of the religious existence is something individuals around the planet are gladly dispensing of in record numbers. We need to find ways of practicing spirituality that do not involve decreeing, in minuscule and nauseating detail, exactly how one should think lead their life. Seekers need to get away from this entirely. When you cease to do this, you will discover a beatific peace, and for merely that reason, the world will be an infinitely better place. I envision a day when the religious structures of the planet crumble completely into dust. They will no longer be needed anyway, if a true Christ consciousness arises. However, when the old religious monuments fall away, there will be new cathedrals of the unseen variety. At least, these glowing edifices will not be perceptible by the human eye, which is altogether unable to peer into the innermost dimensions of existence.  These great cathedrals, shining in translucent beauty from a wondrously imagined future,  will be not be constructed from brick and mortar, but from materials of a more ethereal provenance; woven from ecstatic ingots of  glistening joy to be found only in the loving recesses of the human heart, where we always find those things which are most sacred to us.

These new holy basilicas will spontaneously arise out the ancient dust of tired old ideas, and will be sanctuaries where the new consciousness can be birthed. They will fan the flames of a new way of being, for this new form of beingness will not be confined one bit by the oppressively heavy chains of moral rectitude. This great conflagration of consciousness will easily escape the bricks or stones that comprise a church, synagogue, mosque, or any other places of worship, because it will find these buildings entirely not to its liking. Or, if you try to contain it within the prison of dogma, it will burn up this prison with the all-consuming flames of spiritual awareness. Nothing in this world can stop it, and nothing can stand in its way. So mind your own business – make your only business to be that of finding your own spiritual truth. “Educare”, the Latin root for “education”, means to “bring out from within.” This is the nature of true education and true enlightenment: to go as deeply within as you are able to go, and find the glittering diamonds of truth that lie in wait here, and represent that which possesses eternal value. So, in the end, whatever you do, do not mind the business of others. You will get way too stressed out, and your poor mind will be all aflutter; abuzz with violent perturbations caused by the need to make sure others are living by your rules. Religion is too much in the business of telling others how to run their lives. We need to stop doing this altogether. We should not care even one iota what others do. We should not be spiritual busybodies, always worried about what our neighbor across the street is up to.

Let us mind our own affairs in order to find the immense peace that passes all understanding. This will be a time when humanity finally transcends its need to issue moral directives; when it dawns on us that this has always been an appalling act of self-sabotage and always will be. It will now be an era, always dreamed of by the greatest philosophers who ever walked the earth, when ethics triumphs over rules. If everybody lived in synchronistic alignment with the one consciousness, we would not need overarching moralistic intrusions into our private affairs anyway. Everybody would just naturally respect the personal autonomy of others, and do what was best for the whole. Now, maybe these grand religious structures will not literally crumble into dust. More than likely, they simply will not be needed anymore. They will still retain their significance as historical curiosities from another age, but will no longer be spiritual shrines that people flock to in order to get a paltry taste of the glory that that is God.  I am not denying that these ancient monuments might contain some form of residual spiritual energy. Perhaps, they will even become transformed by the new consciousness into revered temples where one can go to worship the divine in a way that does involve the enslavement of dogma.

Because I believe a church can be a tool, an accessory, a stepping stone on your way to find God, but one that you can ultimately dispense with. Perhaps, in my imagined future, they will be restored to their former glory, but become meccas where one learns how to light the flame of their inner candle. One can hope. However, it has been my experience that even the religions with the best intentions invariably stray into territory where they think its okay to issue moral directives. They just cannot help themselves. Priests telling parishioners what they can and cannot do in the privacy of their own bedrooms; like telling gay people that it is sinful to be in love with those that just happen to be of the same gender as themselves..  How dare this loving couple offend the more sanctimonious amongst us by following the moral imperatives of their hearts!  I’m sure even Buddhists, who seem to me to be free of most of the evils of organized religion, eventually make up rules that serve as moral straightjackets. Every potential meddler into the affairs of others needs to be reminded that adhering to rules is not how you find God. That path is a walk away from peace and the inner divine light into a kind of all-encompassing darkness. So, mind you own business. The word will thank you.

The Care and Feeding of Criticism

Consciousness, Psychology, Spirituality

At times, we all fear criticism and give it a power it should not have. We do this by making it into some ghastly bogeyman, who we believe will murder us soundlessly in our sleep if we so much as let our guard down, even for the smallest of seconds.  Instead, we need to become as intimate as possible with it, and powerfully transform it into a bosom buddy. Take what we formerly believed to be negative, and turn it into a loving companion. Yes; you should take criticism and grind it up into the finest of powders, and even enjoy doing so, but not before you have learned what you need to learn from it; because, as you will find out, criticism has way too much to impart to you. So, do not discard its lessons until you first completely internalize them, and then you can transmute its energy into unicorn dust.  We should not let it affect us negatively in the slightest way, nor should we even perceive it to be negative in the first place. We do this by trying really hard to see what its gifts are, and there are a number of possibilities here.  Let me just suggest a few to you. Use these merely as suggested spiritual exercises to be used in that wonderful playground we call the human mind. You could expand on them, and then come up with your own ideas. It is always wonderful to discover new ways to transmute negative energy into its polar opposite. The only thing limiting you is your own imagination, as they say.

Employ as many imaginative devices as you can think of to perform this alchemy.  Be whimsically creative and have as much fun as you can possibly muster up. And, whatever you do, do not live in stark, raving fear of criticism. Because, as you might not know, criticism has ever so much to teach us. Too often, however, we give criticism a power over us that it should not have in the first place. We do this by giving it a reality it has no right to possess, and then, we give it carte blanche to assume a particularly malicious form of beingness. When you find criticism to be unbearable, those nastily unreasoning words that others have the audacity to say about you, go all the way into this process, and turn it into a living, breathing persona. By turning the critical words coming from the mouth of another human being into an entity unto itself, you are detaching yourself from the negativity that you perceive to be in the other person.  You are then free to see this person apart from the mental conceptualization you think defines him, but is not who he really is. You are divorcing yourself from what you perceive are the intention of the words. This is a wonderful spiritual exercise. So, after you create a body for it, you have it sit across from you at your dining room table and invite the insults that compose its energetic body to come hurling at you like fiery meteors from the heart of the galactic core of hate.

These might be words so vile, that they would instantaneously wither up a rhododendron, leaving nothing but the faintest memory. Let the negative energy pass harmlessly through the walls of your soul, and let it come out, miraculously filtered by your spirit, to the other side. Let the energy go through you, without wounding you in even the slightest possible way. Sit there and take it. You’re a big boy or girl – you got this. By doing this, your ego will soften up like silly putty taken out of the freezer, and put on a hot griddle. Or, alternatively, our egos will just wither up and die, like that poor little rhododendron, replaced by an exquisite vulnerability and softness. By doing this, you will become a much better person, and learn to see that people are more than the words that they say. Criticism, then, is like a specter – a shadow both formless, and without substance. It is a mental projection which sometimes encapsulates a nugget of truth. Or, if you’d like, it is a fangless, old rattlesnake just skulking away into the darkness.  You know that just because somebody says something, that does not make it true. It is only true from their very limited perspective. But maybe looking at it through their eyes is something that you need to know. Do not look a gift horse in the mouth. You might think that criticism is utter garbage. But, you are probably mistaken. And, if you think of it this way, you will be totally oblivious to its hidden lessons. So, let’s do another exercise, shall we? Turn that same negative energy into metaphorical garbage. Do it now. There you go.

Now, drudge sloppily through the refuse and look for the glittering truth that must be there somewhere, if your eyes are clear enough to see it. Wade through the old fish bones and the pork rind packaging. Push the old, faded plastic water bottles aside, but be ever so careful of the hypodermic needles. You know that medical waste does not belong in a landfill, but not everybody does. You wonder what the needles represent as imaginative symbols, but no matter; you slog onwards, and set aside the dilapidated window pane moldy with slime, that came from a house built in the 1700s, and mercilessly torn down to its very foundation. You are now going to dig really deep until you have located what you came here to find.  There – you found a single glittering diamond of truth. You might have to shine it up a bit, wipe off a bit of industrial sledge that is toxic beyond belief, to restore its original luster. But, that single jewel that you found is quite enough, and can change your life infinitely for the better. Now, you must peer deep within the scintillating facets, to see what the message is trying to say to you.

Perhaps the message is that you need to let criticism roll off of you, like water off of a kind of proverbial water fowl whom we all know and love. Maybe you pick it up, and suddenly have an epiphany that ultimately, criticism has no reality of its own, and is therefore harmless. Or, perhaps peering into the diamond of universal truth makes you realize that you have been too much of a slave to implied criticism. This is when somebody says something that deeply offends your most cherished sensibilities. The person did not directly criticize you. What should you do in this case? Perhaps your very first impulse is to never talk to them every again. Maybe even utterly delete the faintest memory of their existence from your brain cells. They said something that did not sit well with you at all. Somebody, some idiotic Republican maybe, who the mere sight of makes you regret even being alive – because you’re a Democrat, and you know unequivocally that you are on the right side of truth – said something so unbelievably stupid, that you want to scream. But hold on there, young fella. Back up, and take a deep breath, because you should not be so quick to reject that divergent opinion. The universe might be telling you that you need to add some layers of nuance to your hardened belief structures. Take that statement, and consider why the person said it, and where he or she is coming from. Show a little empathy, and try to come up with some sort of explanation as to why the brainless imbecile would verbalize something so amazingly insipid. Take in account all of the possibilities, including his life journey up until this point. Put the statement in that context, and perhaps you will learn something. Also, do you not realize that this criticizer, this personage whom you perceive to be a mortal enemy, is actually a loving friend?

With different eyes, you could see him as a teacher who will teach you much. For that, you should give him at least a big, slobbery kiss. He just made your day, and you do not even know it. For hurling critical barbs directly at your jugular, you should also give him an enormous hug that engulfs his very soul. Then, you should go down to that Italian bakery on East St. – I think it’s called Borgo’s – and buy the little bastard a dozen jelly donuts. Because, if you can take his words and not faint dead away, your ego is well on its way to shriveling up and dying. So allow his words to pass harmlessly through your body. Lastly, but most importantly, peer into his eyes, and see the intrinsic goodness that lies within. Notice that he is more than the role he is playing. At this moment, you notice just the faintest of glimmers. There is a gentleness of spirit here that lies just underneath the acrimonious façade. By doing this, you are cultivating the skill of seeing beyond the illusory veil of reality, right smack into another dimension of being. This is an essential skill of any spiritual warrior worthy of her or his salt. You can even start to see the infinite wonderfulness that is in the worst human beings this planet has to offer.

Now, you are ready to disintegrate all that garbage (remember the garbage?) with the most intense laser beam that you can imagine coming out of your eyes. Turn it into nothing but pure energy, and then, gather up that energy and transmute it to a higher frequency. Use it for your own evolutionary process. Criticism has now been profoundly changed, and its energy powerfully altered. Now you can use that energy in a zillion different ways. Gather all of that wonderful gooey energy that is the consistency of etheric peanut butter into an orb and smear it all over yourself. Now you have raised your vibrational rate a few octaves, and the universe is a slightly better place for you having done so. You’ve done the universe and yourself a favor. The universe owes you one. What was previously perceived as negative was turned into something positive. A trillion angelic voices rejoice eternally, in a celestial dimension just adjacent to our own, whenever we find a way to do this. Next time somebody hurls criticism your way you can employ this process instantaneously in a microsecond by immediately skimming the glittering diamond of truth off the top and converting the negative energy of criticism into sparkling pure spiritual energy. So pure – as if it just emanated from the holiest of mountain streams in some ethereal radiant valley. The energy bubbles out of the ground. It arose from negativity and transformed into something so holy and good it would take your breath away. This then, in a nutshell, is the care and feeding of criticism. Let this be a guide of sorts.

We Are All Blind

Consciousness, Spirituality

This is a story of two Chinese men. One was blind, born that way due to a congenital defect, and the other had no arms. Since they have no other way to make a living, they decided travel around China growing trees, to both bring beauty into the universe, and to protect villages from floods. Also, to leave a living legacy to future generations. This was a collaborative partnership of the most extraordinary type. The one without arms could tell the blind one where to climb to locate the best saplings. The two individuals in this story illustrate a powerful metaphor: we complement each others’ abilities. We can make up for each others’ deficits. We are all broken in some way. And, it is in service to others that we are restored to wholeness.

This is our glorious task on this planet. This is what we are meant to do. We need to find out what we can do for others to restore the other to wholeness. We need to see where others are broken, and see where others are missing teeth and limbs and parts of their souls and what we can do to make them complete again. But, we are all blind and we are all missing parts of ourselves also. We need in so many ways to be restored to a glorious whole, and to restore others to this wholeness. So, we need to  recognize our self in the other. See that we are all the same Being in different disguises. We are here to help one another – to see God in the other. We will restore each other, and restore the planet. This is done by having mutually beneficial relationships with each other, which includes collaborating with others to bring beauty into the world. So cultivate beauty and joy and a wondrous sense of peace together with others. There’s  so much joy to be found through helping, particularly when we compensate for each others’ weaknesses and deficits. We are sometimes much less than the sum of our parts. That might sound disempowering, but it’s a good thing. I sometimes think that the universe set it up exactly that way. You might have a talent for this or that, and I have a talent in another area. We each have our own very specific talents. You have the gift of sight, I don’t have that, but I have two useful limbs. We are all blinded in some way. And, we are all disabled in some way. We are all damaged, seemingly beyond repair – in some way. In other areas, we are strong and transcendently able.

If you see that your brother or sister is without an arm, be that arm for that person. For most assuredly, there is a need or deficit in you, a place deep within longing to be whole, that that act of kindness will remedy. We all want to be whole. It is in the act of service to others that we are made whole again. When we recognize our self in the other, this leads to the next step in our collective evolution. And that is, we are here to give rise to the only thing that truly matters – the awakening of planetary consciousness from its long slumber. Someday, we will arrive at the Omega Point, which is the recognition that science, art, metaphysics, spirituality, and multifarious other disciplines are merely slightly different ways to see the ineffable reality, and that one day, they will unite in a glorious whole.

We are all part of that one consciousness. The Omega Point is what all prophets, poets, and mystics have alluded to for millennia, and humanity is well along on the road to that resplendent reality. This is the place where all of our accumulated knowledge, all of our combined efforts, is leading us. This is the place that is dimly glimpsed by each individual discipline, but will only be fully seen when they all become one, and when we finally see the transcendent dimension that lies beyond the obscuring veil of space and time. Then, we will be able to see God in all of her glory. But…the only way we are going to arrive here is, when we recognize our limitations, and enter into creative partnerships with those who have strengths that balance out our weaknesses. We do this by creating a community of individuals that excludes no one. And then, united as one, we become the divine beings we always were destined to be. We at last arrive, and see God. And…we become God. Our underlying divine nature is gloriously revealed at last.

No One But You

You need to be, as they say, supremely independent of the good opinion of others. So, do not care one iota what others think – just be yourself in your best and highest aspect. If you do this, you will be in a state of complete self-referral. I believe that if you truly do this, your actions will be for the highest good of everyone. Because if you start to have the slightest thought for what even one other person thinks, you will be sliding down the slipperiest of slopes, which will lead right down into a kind of hell where you become a mindless servant to the tyranny of public opinion. This is not what you really want, or need, to do. You need to be in this state of perfect and supreme independence from what all others would have you do. Do not worry about what your boss might think. If you listen to your intuitive promptings, they will always do what is best for yourself and everyone else on the Earth. They will even figure out what is best for your boss. No need to project yourself into his head and see what his thoughts about you might be. This is utterly unnecessary. You don’t want to go there. You will need a psychic haz-mat suit to wade through the industrial sledge of his mental processes. It could forever poison your soul. You know, when you get right down to it, maybe your employer does not have your best interests at heart. Maybe they utterly despise your guts, and want you to suffer the most joyless existence imaginable. You do not really know, do you?

Do you want to get all stressed out over someone might think who could be secretly subverting your happiness? You can only go deeply within, and engage in what the Buddhists would call “spontaneous right action.” You cannot go wrong at all if you engage in this process, which involves going really deep within yourself. So deep, you experience the oceanic expansiveness without limit that is your true self. You will then be blessedly free from making yourself completely and utterly insane from what others mentally project you to be. Do you really want to only be a thought form without substance in the brain of somebody else? You cannot make decisions solely from a logical level; sure, you can engage your mind in the first step of decision-making, if you would like. That might actually be helpful. But then, you need to give these thoughts up to the ether, and allow your heart, that wonderfully intuitive aspect of your being, that part of you that does not suffer from the life-consuming horrors of mental dysfunction, to have the final say. It really does know best. If you are in this rapturous state, your uniqueness will not only come out, but it will rhapsodize with a singular aliveness. You will experience an exhilarating form of freedom few get to taste on this planet, if you take this advice as far as you possibly can go with it. Too many individuals are zombie-like automatons to what others or society or what Donald Trump thinks of them. Go to that sacred cathedral within, and really follow the jubilant music of your intuition wherever it might lead you. Yours will be a sweet voice, creating joy for yourself and others as you trod a path that is yours alone.

Go so deep within yourself that you tune out the rest of the universe and listen to the celestial singing that is always here. We get so wrapped up in our life-sapping responsibilities that we lose our ability to hear these songs. But we can relearn this ability. And you must always remember never to follow the crowd. They are like pre-programmed lemmings that will lead you to the edge of a cliff, where you will leap to your death into a sea of despair. So, in the end, you must liberate yourself from the constricting chains of the life that others would have you live. Then, and only then, will you have gotten rid of the soul-crushing malignancy of all negative influences. Extricate yourself from all of these dark energies in any and all ways that you can possibly think of. List a thousand ways you can do this, and then add one hundred more. And lastly…as much as possible, free yourself from thought. I say, do not live exclusively from this place. There’s no aliveness here if that is all that you do. You do not need the tool that is your mind as much as you might think. Use it to plan out your day at work, and then said it aside. It will be there when you need it again. Have times where you forget your myriad worries and cares, and just be pure consciousness. Get out there on a winding road where you are free from the cacophony of thought, and those strident voices that would enslave you. You need to meander as far out in the wilderness as possible, and immerse yourself in silence – the one and only voice of God. It is the beneficent energy that only wants good things for yourself and everyone else. This is the only voice worth listening to.

The Radiant Truth

When I slow down and become totally immersed in the radiance of presence by giving my complete attention to what is, I relinquish whatever unholy attachment I had to time. It is an exquisite feeling. It is simple to do, yet how often do we succumb to the illusion that we are shackled to the prison of space/time by forgetting to surround ourselves with the loving embrace that resides in the now?  We too often want to wander away from it, and to get lost in the crazy energy of the world. To return, all we have to do is find a way to is to see the divinity hidden in ordinary things. You will not be afforded a glimpse into that which lies beyond the material realm unless you create inner spaciousness.

You need to find a way to connect with the limitless realms that lie within. See if you can go five minutes without burdening your mind with a single thought. Try and see if you can spend an entire day in sacred silence. Get out to a nice lake nestled in some pleasant foothills, and do not even think about taking that goddamned iPhone 6 with the LifeProof case with you. Set your restless mind down as if it were a workman’s tool  almost as ordinary as a screwdriver and give your thoughts the day off. You can call them back when they are needed again.  Slip off the heavy overcoat that is the part of you that sees itself as a person, and become one with the infinite glory that is the sun. There is a radiant truth to our existence, and that truth is,  you are not separate from the cosmos, but part of it and something even larger than the cosmos. We are always ever so afraid to acknowledge this.

Our mission was never to see how much we could accomplish in this thin strip of time we call our life. It is to create so much inner spaciousness, that we can encompass not only every human being who ever lived in its oceanic depths, but also the universe and so much more. We are not persons. That is a tragic misperception of our grandeur. We merely pretend to be. We really are sparks of the divine. We game reality by playing little theatrical games with existence. We do a disservice to the mind-boggling totality by thinking this way. We need to see ourselves as more than little specks of dirt and mud who somehow found a way to make vocalizations. We will be rotting corpses soon enough. Le’t not pretend we will continue to drive to Walmart every Saturday afternoon with Aunt Gladys to buy coffee filters until the end of time.  This is, and has always been the truth.
